Well, for those of you who remember, last year I wrote a blog post on my plans for this year and what I wanted to do with my books. Well, let's recap the 8 plans I had, and how well I succeeded..
This Years Goals1. Finish up book 5 and 6 of the Earthfleet sagaStatus: Partial Success
Book 5 was completed and published, but 6 was canceled because I decided that book 5 added the kind of end cap that I needed for the first saga, and 6 simply started a whole new saga. In the end book 6 became the new book 1 of Saga 3 (there are 4 planned sagas in the Earthfleet series at this time). So overall I kinda succeeded on this, but not completely.
2. Publish Book 5 of the Earthfleet Saga titled "First Dawn".Status: SUCCESS!
Yup, this one is officially considered published. Getting it in book stores though is proving a bit more of a challenge than I expected. But hey, that's all part of being an author. lol.
3. Publish Book 1 of the Land of the Lions series, titled: "Lion in the Wind."Status: Postponed.
Things didn't work out to get this one published this year. So I'm bumping it to next year.
4. Get Earthfleet Book 4 on store shelves.Status: Fail.
Alas, the publishing gremlins have been haunting this book for a while. But, oh well. As I said with book 5, it's just part of being an author. Eventually though it'll get sorted out. They always do.
5. Complete and release all my audiobooks.Status: Canceled.
The market for audiobooks from indie authors pretty much died a sudden and tragic death as studio fees went through the bloody roof. Well, that and the fact that the market shrank so much that it was no longer practical to do this anymore. So I canceled all work on it. I might visit it again in the future if things change, but not at this point.
6. Release hardcover versions of my novelsStatus: Canceled.
By the time I was finally able to do hard covers, the print book market collapsed, so I canceled my plans to do hard covers. I might still do a few limited edition hard covers, but at this point there's no definite plans to do any.
7. Release the first of the "Dark Years Chronicles" series.Status: Canceled.
I changed a number of things in the series during the year, so this project got dumped. Instead I plan to revisit some of the topics that were to be covered in these short stories via some of the other planned stand alone novels I have in the pipes.
8. Release the final book in the Dreamland Articles series.Status: Canceled.
Due to very, very poor uptake on this series I canceled my plans to publish the third book. So books 1 and 2 are all there will ever be of this series baring some miraculous uptick in book sales on this series.
2012 Plans and PredictionsNow that we've highlighted last years wins, fails, and miscellaneous results, it's time to highlight this coming year's plans for book publishing.
1. Publish Book 1 of the Land of the Lions series, titled: "Lion in the Wind."This book is still on the platter for being published. The exact details of exactly who, how, when, etc have yet to be sorted out. But if and when they are, I'll make an announcement.
2. Get Earthfleet Books 4 and 5 on store shelves.Given how close we are to making this happen, I predict success with this. If not, well, I'll probably scream.
3. Finish and release RathulI haven't been this excited over a novel since book 1 of my Earthfleet saga. It's turning into a wonderfully fun adventure, and should be a nice capstone to the Earthfleet Saga, answering a number of questions I didn't fully address during the first five books. It'll also very nicely open the door to Saga 3 when I finally get around to starting it.
4. Finish at least one other novel this year.I really want to do this, as it'll make me very happy. The question is, which novel? Right now I've got 4 in contention for being finished. If I can finish Rathul and have it publisher ready before April, then I might even be able to pull off a total of three finished books this year. But if I get just two finished books this year that are clean, well written, and gripping, I'll be extremely happy, because I'd rather have two well written novels than five sloppy ones.
ConclusionYes, I only have 4 major plans for this year, which isn't saying much. But as I'm not totally sure what I am going to be doing writing wise over the next 12 months, this list is a good start.

I hope you enjoyed this list, and I look forward to fulfilling this year's plans.
