Some of you who have been reading books 4 and 5 already have made a point about the fact that the series seems to stop abruptly at book 5 and a number of the items raised in the series (ie, the relationship between Mike and Sarah, resolution of Zoahn's plans for Sarah, Pendleton's rise to Grand Admiral, etc) aren't answered. Well, that's actually intentional.
The reason I'm doing things this way is because Empire Rising ended the first arc of the series (The Earthfleet Saga is just one part of a much broader series) and there is still much to tell that hasn't as yet been touched. Initially I intended to tell the entire story in 7 books. But as I dug into book 5, I realised that I was really only getting started on the story, and there was still so much to tell.
Thus I cut off the Earthfleet Saga at book 5, and used the story in First Dawn as a jumping off point to the next series, which is called "The Destiny Chronicles". This is a 3 book saga that will take a brief detour from the main storyline of Mike and Sarah, and explore the early days of Earthfleet and how they and the Society adapted to their new reality among the stars.
At the end of that series I will then flash forward a number of years from the end of book 4 (about 25 in total) and pick up the third arc in the master story, which will deal once and for all with the Juinah issue, Zoahn, Mike and Sarah, the Alliance, and Earth's rise as one of the new superpowers in the galaxy, the Nyuishians, and much more.
The fourth and final saga will deal with a future period of time when Earth, the Society, and the Nyuishians have banded together to form the new Sol republic, and will cover all the issues that arise out of this new alliance as the Sol republic becomes one of the new superpowers in the galaxy. Let's just say that the term "Chappagi" will be back in full swing once again.

Anyways, that's the current plans for the rest of the Earthfleet novels at this time. As the series matures, I'm sure there will be a few changes along the way, but for the most part I plan to stick as close as I can to the original roadmap. So in all you have up to twelve more books to look forward to!

I'll keep everyone informed over the coming months and years as things develop so you know where the series stands.
