I've been thinking long and hard about this, and I'm seriously considering releasing my next Earthfleet series (The Destiny Chronicles) as a free ebook trilogy. Yes, you read that right,
free. Here's my logic behind this. First off, a lot of you really loved the Earthfleet saga. Many of you were also rather bummed that the series ended without any resolution to a number of questions that were left hanging at the end of book 5.
Those are things I plan to rectify in later series. Now here's the deal. The Earthfleet Saga was originally intended to be a 15 book series, thus why so many things were left unresolved at the end of book 5. However, as the series matured I realized that it'd be better to break up the story into multiple different sagas, as each saga was its own story arc. It also gave me more freedom in my writing by packaging each series as a sort of stand alone story that was connected to all the others, but of itself independent.
Another reason for considering this is to satisfy my fans. Because at this point my list of "To be published" books is getting quite long, with at least two other series on the list to be released before I ever get a chance to return to the Earthfleet saga. So rather than make people wait a REALLY long time for the next Earthfleet series, I figure that I'll be nice and do everyone a favor by releasing the next part of the series as a free ebook series.
The only thing I need now is your input. Should I do this, and if so, how, in what formats, and through what sites or locations should I do it? I'm doing this for you, the reader, and all I'm asking in return is information that will help me get it to you in the best possible way. Thanks again everyone.

Hi Steven. Format. EPub but there are converters out there to change between the formats. As to where, I got books 2 and 3 of the Earthfleet saga from EZ Read. What about sending emails to your fan base giving notification of where and when the books can be downloaded. Thanks for your very generous gift to the world, allowing us to enjoy reading your stories. I look forward to the next installment. |

I don't have an easy way to email my readers about things like that, so I stick to making announcements through my website, Facebook, Twitter, and a few other sources. It seems to work well enough. BTW, if you still need books 4 and 5 of Earthfleet, EZread has those. As for other sources, I'll be offering them via Smashwords and a number of other resources in the near future. Just keep an eye on this blog and the individual book pages for information on where and how to get a hold of each book. |

Steve
ePub is the best way to go. Calibre can covert easily between formats as necessary. I will still use your tip jar though! |
